Three Questions To Ask Before Hitting Send

emailE-mail is one of the most used forms of communication. It’s also one of the trickiest. With no way to tell facial expressions or tone of voice, messages can often be misconstrued. Worse, the urge to hit send immediately can cause you to send things in the heat of the moment that you might not otherwise say. Before you hit send in the heat of the moment, ask yourself three questions:

  • Does this need to be said?
  • Does this need to be said by me?
  • Does this need to be said now?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, let some time pass before hitting send. Let yourself cool off and think before you send the e-mail. It could be the difference between a smooth relationship and a rocky one.
